Jim Zhan is a highly proficient IT professional with extensive experience in large scale distributed services design and implementation. With over 15 years of industry project experience involving full software development life cycles, Jim has proven analytical abilities and technical skills. He is a goal-oriented individual with strong hands-on capabilities and comprehensive diagnostic skills. Jim has extensive programming experience with multiple languages such as Go, Java, etc. and is highly experienced with AWS stack, Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow & open source technologies. He is a rigorous, quality-conscious contributor with solid analytical and writing skills. Jim is a highly motivated and detail-oriented technical problem solver. Currently, Jim is a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Compass, where he is responsible for infrastructure setup for the Brokerage Workflow project, including the Kubernetes (EKS) pipeline, Kafka, containerized airflow, Redis, etc. He has also designed and led the work on multiple services to manage agent lifecycle and the related integrations. Prior to his current role, Jim worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Compass, where he reshaped the data intelligence platform. He also designed and led the work on the next generation data ingestion pipeline, the next generation media processing pipeline, and infrastructure management for the data streaming pipeline. Jim has also worked as a Lead Software Engineer at Grab, where he worked on several projects, including providing data storage as a service using Go, Kubernetes, AWS stacks, etc., building the catcher service for service discovery using Go, etcd, AWS stacks, etc., and building the quotas service using Go, Redis, Kafka, etc. Jim holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering from Florida International University, a Master's degree in Computer Science from Florida International University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Zhejiang University.
