Jimil Desai is a Computing Engineer at CERN, with a passion for Cloud Native technologies. He has 1.19 years of relevant experience in the field of Software Engineering, with a focus on Kubernetes, Golang, Docker, Web, and Integration. Currently, Jimil is working on ScienceBox deployment for High Energy Physics use cases and for the ScienceMesh federation at CERN. He is involved in working on various technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, EOS, SWAN, CERNBox, and CVMFS, which are essential for the deployment of ScienceBox. In the past, Jimil has worked as a Student Developer - Buildpacks at CNCF, where he was responsible for creating Distribution specification v3, which involved extensively specifying the artifact format and delivery mechanism for buildback components. He also worked on the Go based Pack-CLI to conform to the new distribution specs. Jimil has also worked as a Student Developer at CERN during the Google Summer of Code program. Here, he worked on a distributed interoperability platform, Reva, which connects storage and application endpoints, empowering a resource-sharing mesh across multiple cloud providers. He enabled runtime pluggability to the Reva framework, which accelerated the development experience at CERN for the integration of applications in the new platform. He also performed benchmarking and comparative analysis of open-source Go plugin systems and selected the best framework suited for the use-case. Jimil holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Information and Communication Technology from Ahmedabad University. He is a Cloud Native Enthusiast and is always eager to learn new technologies and apply them to solve real-world problems.
