Joe Bernardi is a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer with over 12 years of relevant experience. He is currently employed at lowkey.gg, where he works as a Software Engineer, collaborating with a team of well-rounded and thoughtful individuals to create innovative solutions. Joe has a diverse background, having worked with a variety of companies in the past, including self-employed and okcupid. At self-employed, he worked as a Fullstack Web Developer, creating full-stack apps using a wide range of technologies, including Node/ES6, Sequelize, Preact X, and CSS Modules. At okcupid, he served as a Senior Developer, where he was responsible for maintaining and augmenting a desktop website, a mobile website, and mobile app webviews for a dating app with millions of daily active users. He worked with hand-rolled legacy code and systems, migrating as much as possible to React, Redux, and ES6. Joe was instrumental in architecting an API consumed by all of the frontend platforms, and he began migrating it from an in-house legacy language to Apollo/GraphQL. He also played a key role in designing and rewriting a frontend deployment infrastructure from the ground up, using Webpack, S3, and Gitlab CI/CD. Additionally, he helped spearhead a feature where queer and non-cisgendered users can add their pronouns to their dating profile and assisted with the company's expansion to India, helping reverse a years-long financial downturn. Joe holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Communication and Media Studies, Writing/Literature/Publishing from Emerson College.
