Joel Schweitzer is an experienced Engineering Manager with over 16 years of relevant experience in the software industry. Currently serving as the Senior Engineering Manager at flyhomes, he is responsible for managing various engineering teams that oversee the search, buy, sell, and mobile experiences of flyhomes.com. Prior to his current role, Joel has held several leadership positions in renowned companies such as modernist cuisine and 98point6 inc. At modernist cuisine, he developed custom hardware, robotics, and software for photography applications and managed teams of engineers spread across three product areas. At 98point6 inc., he hired two teams of 10 engineers and worked with Product and Development to develop sane practices to efficiently integrate bug fixing into their normal product release cadence. He also set policies for bug management and drove a high but attainable quality bar, which led to high iOS and Android app store reviews. Joel has a diverse range of skills and expertise in the software industry. He has experience in senior software engineering, testing, search, mobile, Android, iOS, backend, web, Terraform, Docker, frontend, and infra. He has also developed serverless services, using lambdas, Terraform, and SAM to aid development and testing efforts. Additionally, he has maintained Docker containers and build infrastructure, designed and built a single issue, Continuous Delivery(CD) and testing system for web and service products, and designed and built a BDD testing framework for automation across Android, iOS, and web platforms. Joel is currently not looking for new opportunities at this time but is open to connecting with other professionals in the software industry.
