Joey Shannon is a seasoned professional in the renewable energy industry with over 11 years of relevant experience. He is currently serving as the Sr. Manager of Renewables & Storage Development at Talen Energy, where he leads the development of Talen's renewable energy and battery storage pipeline. Joey's strong track record of success in negotiating major contracts to support project milestones, including Interconnection Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, Equipment Supply Agreements, and Tax Abatements, has made him an invaluable asset to the company. Prior to joining Talen Energy, Joey worked at Calpine as the Manager of Renewables Development, where he was responsible for advancing a 900MW portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects at various levels of maturity toward start of construction. He facilitated “green-field” project development activities, including initial investment thesis, coordination of land lease negotiations, environmental field surveys, interconnection filings, and energy assessment campaign. Joey also worked at NRG Energy as a Renewables Asset Management Associate, where he was responsible for managing utility-scale renewable energy projects under long-term contracts in the MISO, ERCOT, and PJM energy markets. He has experience in commercial management of tax equity partnerships, flip equity partnerships, and various forms of debt facilities. Joey was actively involved in the due diligence of greenfield "shovel-ready" projects, valuation of operating assets for divestiture, and decision modeling of existing assets. Joey holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Emory University - Goizueta Business School. He also attended John Carroll Catholic High School. Joey's extensive knowledge and experience in the renewable energy industry make him a valuable asset to any organization.
