John Carter is a highly experienced Software Engineer Director with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. He currently serves as the Director of Automation Engineering at Quest Software, where he oversees and coordinates erwin's Managed Automation team. John is responsible for helping clients develop smart solutions for auto-documentation, code-generation, and other metadata-driven automation initiatives. He is a trusted advisor and leader within both the IT and business communities, providing strategic leadership and guidance, solution designs, and project management from inception to completion. Prior to joining Quest Software, John served as the Director of Automation Engineering at AnalytiX Data Services and erwin, Inc. In these roles, he was responsible for implementing and redefining business processes, developing and providing operational analytics, and managing critical systems to support a high-volume portfolio of application development and professional services projects. He provided planning, design, development, quality assurance, configuration assistance, application training, and issue resolution to new and existing customers, ensuring high customer satisfaction and quality. John holds a Master of Information Technology Management from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Sam Houston State University. He has been a featured speaker at many events, including the World-Wide Data Vault Consortium, where he is a trusted advisor, hands-on instructor, and presenter. In addition to his professional achievements, John is an avid outdoorsman and BBQ Pitmaster. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage sons.
