John Kachurek is a skilled software developer based in Portland, with a passion for creative problem-solving and a background in broadcasting, audio production, and promotions. With over 7 years of relevant experience, he specializes in front-end development with JavaScript, React, Vue, and Angular, and is comfortable with the .NET ecosystem as well. Currently working as a Software Development Engineer II at gradient.io, John has previously worked as a Frontend Developer at developmentnow, where he was one of two developers on a short-term contract creating a website to help medical practices find insurance policy information and coverage for pharmaceutical products. The website was built with React and Firebase, making extensive use of custom hooks and styled components. He has also worked as a Front End Software Engineer II at Nike, where he was hired by IntraEdge, Inc. for a year-long contract through their FLEX ETW program. At Nike, he worked on the Artemis suite of internal applications, part of Product Data Management at Nike Digital. He led a full refactor and reskin of the application using custom React hooks and a custom Material UI theme, and developed some complex custom components for broader use in the PDM org at Nike. The application stack included React, Redux, Material UI, Apollo GraphQL, Express, and AWS. John holds a degree in Broadcasting and Mass Communications from Baldwin Wallace University, where he graduated in 2015. He also attended Hawken School from 1996 to 2010. In his free time, he enjoys collecting records, attending concerts, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. John is a quick learner with new technologies and is always seeking new projects and languages to explore. He is looking for opportunities to combine his technical skills with the interpersonal skills that he honed in his years of customer service and broadcasting jobs.
