John Noble is a highly experienced software engineer with over 27 years of relevant experience. He has worked in a variety of industries including entertainment, telecom, biotech, gaming, and real estate, building cool applications and solving complex problems with software. John has a passion for technology and the web, and he loves to learn new things. John's philosophy is to always dig deep and find the root of the problem at hand, and to offer options for solutions. He believes that truly understanding the desired outcome, customer needs, and obtaining the appropriate scope and focus leads to incremental and powerful solutions that deliver true value. John's specialties include large scale, full-stack web development, Elixir, Ruby, Rails, Java, Backbone.js, JQuery, Javascript, API discovery and development, ElasticSearch, Rails APIs, TDD, Solr, background job solutions, Google Maps, real estate (IDX feeds, RETS, custom data), biotech development, databases, WordPress dev, and making things go. Currently, John is working as a software engineer at astrobyte, where he is developing a cross-platform C++ library and port for the BeyondPress product. This product is a plugin to Quark Xpress that allows Xpress content to be exported for the web. BeyondPress was originally developed on the Mac, and John is working to make the code base cross-platform to support both Mac and Windows. In the past, John has worked at Lucent Technologies as a software engineer, where he worked on the Audix voice mail platform and performed some of the very first forward-looking work using Java in the organization. He also worked on a separate message management system using Java and JSP / Servlets to provide enhancements to a web-based admin system. John also co-founded Peribole, LLC, where he developed the technical side of the business, including a web-based gaming portal, gameatlas.com, and an online web game, Parallel Universe. John holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he graduated in 1996.
