Johnbabu Koppolu is an accomplished Engineering Leader with over 14 years of experience in building products and teams from scratch. Currently, he holds the position of Head of Engineering at Jodo, where he is responsible for leading the engineering team and driving product development. Johnbabu is an expert in system design and shaping product architecture, with a proven track record of leading teams to launch products on time with high quality. Johnbabu is a hands-on Fullstack developer and a polyglot programmer who is passionate about building software that "just works." He is adept at Agile practices, requirements gathering, estimation, prioritization, planning, and execution, with a focus on reducing complexity to deliver solutions incrementally. Johnbabu is committed to driving industry best practices like Continuous Integration, Single Click deployments, Code reviews, Clean code, TDD, Gitflow, Observability, Autoscaling, and Monitoring. Prior to joining Jodo, Johnbabu worked as the Director of Engineering and Architect, Full stack at ONE Championship, where he led the engineering team responsible for the user-facing Mobile apps and Backend platform. He built and mentored a team of 20+ cross-functional engineers and brought in various Observability and Monitoring techniques/tools to bring the overall system uptime to 99.9%. Johnbabu refactored legacy services to bring stability and drive down production incidents by 90% and set up processes to increase release predictability. He also owns design and evolution of the microservices-based backend platform and collaborated with the Product function to prioritize the roadmap to align with Engineering goals. Johnbabu holds a B.E. (Hons) in Computer Science Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. His tech stack includes Senior Software Engineer, Backend, CI/CD, Integration, Microservices, and Mobile.
