Jono Brandel is an award-winning graphic designer and computer programmer with over 11 years of relevant experience. He is the Principal of his own company, jono, llc, established in 2016 in California and New York. Jono's work is a unique blend of graphic design and computer programming, exploring the expressive qualities of technology. He has a mixed heritage, being an American of Filipino and Polish descent, and he pairs distinct subjects to frame the creative process. These combinations range from Latin and emojis to lithography and pixel sorting. Jono has worked with companies like Google Arts & Culture, The New Yorker, Red Bull Canada, The Tate, Columbia Records, and Pop Up Magazine. He has also collaborated with artists such as new media artist Solimán López, Shibuya-kei band Cornelius, LA based producer Nosaj Thing, and Japanese bedroom producer duo Lullatone. Jono's work involves concept, design, and development of interactive websites, mobile apps, and live audio-visual performances. His work gives a unique, personal, and most importantly, human perspective on the digital experience. This point of view empowers artists and distinguishes brands from typical commercial digital content. Prior to establishing his own company, Jono worked as a Product Lead: Web Platform at WITHIN (virtual reality) and as a Designer/Developer at Google. At WITHIN, Jono led the design and development for the WITHIN platform and co-directed two interactive virtual reality music videos. At Google, Jono worked on various design and development projects, including Chrome Experiments, Unnumbered Sparks, Anitype, Just a Reflektor, and WebGL Bookcase. Jono holds a Master of Fine Arts - MFA degree in New Media from Paris College of Art and a Bachelor's degree in Design | Media Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.
