Joshua Bernhard is a Data Science Leader with over 13 years of experience working across various industries, including product, marketing, engineering, and finance. He has a proven track record of solving complex problems and leading initiatives that have a significant impact on key company metrics. Joshua is comfortable in both leadership and hands-on roles and has experience communicating with key stakeholders, sizing and planning data science initiatives across teams, and creating dashboards of key metrics. Currently, Joshua works as a Senior Software Engineer, Data Science - Marketplace at Thumbtack. In this role, he focuses on building end-to-end solutions as "data products" and implementing machine learning models across the entire marketplace team. Prior to Thumbtack, Joshua worked at NerdWallet as a Data Science Lead - Media Mix Marketing, where he led a small and talented group of data scientists working on projects spanning product and marketing initiatives. He designed A/B and pre-post tests for measuring DMA-specific marketing campaigns, built content recommendation models, and optimized SEM spend and targeting. Joshua also worked at Udacity as a Curriculum Lead, School of Data Science, where he designed data science curriculum focused on real industry products. Joshua has a Master's degree in Statistics from Iowa State University, a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Wartburg College, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics from the University of Colorado Denver. He also has Machine Learning and Deep Learning Nanodegrees from Udacity.
