With over 26 years of relevant experience, Julian is an accomplished serverless developer advocate with a deep understanding of infrastructure architecture, web development, and DevOps. Before joining Amazon, Julian worked as a Consulting Infrastructure Architect, Blogger, and VMware vExpert at wooditwork.com. He was awarded the prestigious vExpert award by VMware since 2011 for his work within the virtualization community. Julian was invited as a recognized industry influencer to multiple Tech Field Days, including Cloud Field Day 1, Virtualization Field Days 4 & 6, and Tech Field Day 11 as a delegate. He met with founders, CEOs, and senior staff of many start-ups, as well as some of the industry’s most recognized names, including Docker, NetApp, DellEMC, Rubrik, AppFormix, ServiceNow, CloudPhysics, and Solarwinds. Julian is a self-funded traveler who has attended AWS re:Invent 2017 and VMworlds 4xUS and 2xEU. He has given multiple London, South-West, and UK National VMware User Group presentations, including keynoting a UK VMUG. His topics ranged from The Future of IT, serverless, blade networking, PowerCLI, vSphere upgrades, VDI, an independent VMworld debrief, etc. Julian was awarded Best Community Presentation for 2011 by London VMware User Group and gave multiple vBrownbag presentations at VMworlds. As a Senior Infrastructure Manager at Westpac Banking Corporation, Julian led server and networking teams managing infrastructure in Europe and Americas. He is well-versed in AWS, web development, infrastructure, blockchain, and is a Senior Software Engineer with DevOps experience.
