Kaan Karakas is a Computer Science and Mathematics student at New York University (NYU), Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, with a keen interest in pursuing a career in Software Development, Data Science, or Quant Trading/Developing. With a strong academic background and relevant experience of 1.77 years, he is equipped with the necessary skills to excel in these fields. Currently, Kaan is interning at Goldman Sachs as part of their 2021 Insight Series program. He was selected from a pool of over 10,000 applicants to participate in this eight-week career opportunities showcase, where he was introduced to various roles and divisions at the company while also getting a chance to network with other participants. Prior to this, he worked as a Software Engineering Intern at Papara, where he gained experience in C# ASP.NET Core-MVC technology and built software for Papara Admin internal tool through Agile Software Methodologies utilizing Azure DevOps. He also wrote LINQ SQL queries for the Service layer methods while maintaining Inversion of Control and Dependency Injection and developed Unit Tests using moq, mocking, and NUnit testing. Additionally, he refactored legacy code by adhering to separation of concerns principles. Kaan has also worked as a Portfolio Management Analyst Intern at Paamco Miren, where he learned how to analyze businesses through figures utilizing technologies like Excel and Bloomberg Terminal. He analyzed a variety of BIST100 businesses in different sectors, ranging from airlines to defense sector via their financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements. He also created his own trading strategy as a final project. Kaan is a Bachelor's degree candidate at NYU, expected to graduate in 2023, with majors in Computer Science and Mathematics. He completed his IB Diploma higher level in Mathematics, Economics, and Computer Science from The Koç School in 2020. His tech stack includes SQL, Data Scientist, Software Engineer, dotNET, ASP.NET, DevOps, Azure, and Backend. With his academic background and relevant experience, Kaan is well-equipped to excel in his chosen career path.
