Kamal Laungani is a Senior Engineering Manager at Affinidi, leading a team of 20+ engineers to build a cutting-edge react native Identity Wallet and credential issuance solution. His goal is to enable blue and grey collar workers to add, view, and selectively share their cryptographically verifiable credentials such as skill, experience, and salary. He aims to scale the solution to enable 1M+ VCs being transacted by 200k+ workers, based on the latest JSON-LD Verifiable Credential specs from W3C. Kamal has a track record of inculcating a high-performance engineering culture of full automation, frequent deployments, security-first engineering, high code coverage, and shift-left on quality & performance engineering. He has 10.04 years of relevant experience in the tech industry and possesses a diverse skill set, including Senior Software Engineer, React Native, Decentralized, QA, and Test. Prior to his current role, Kamal was the Global Developer Ecosystem Manager at Affinidi, where he drove adoption for SSI and VCs, educated the community, built developer-facing products, evangelized decentralized identity, and enabled open-source contributions with the help of a kick-ass 15 member team he built. Additionally, he was a QA Manager at door2door, where he set up the QA process for a B2B2C product providing ride-pooling and mobility intelligence services. Kamal holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai. He is passionate about building innovative solutions that solve real-world problems and is always on the lookout for new technologies and trends in the industry.
