Kapil Birthala is a PM Fellow at NextLeap and a recent graduate from IIT Roorkee. With his expertise in problem-solving, customer research and strategy, data analysis, product design, process development, and marketing, he is always excited about building things more generic, dynamic, and robust. Kapil has gained professional experience spanning Operations and Product Management, working on Explorin, a cohort-based career exploration platform, and SalaryBox, a platform that makes work easier for 100,000+ businesses with everything they need to manage a team. As an Associate Product Manager at SalaryBox, Kapil has developed 5 incremental features for SMEs based on competitor benchmarking and market research, impacting the topline of core business. He has successfully launched payroll for the web app, adopted by 10K+ organizations within 2 months of release. He has also analyzed customer journey and identified behaviors of high intent customers and path to wow factor of the app, improving sales funnel via multiple strategies, positively impacting the funnel from 3.5 to 5.5 percent in a span of 45 days. Prior to his role at SalaryBox, Kapil was a Founding Member of Explorin.io, where he experimented with several iterations for the idea validation and landed on cohort-based exploration programs. He was accountable for the promotion strategy of programs, built campus ambassador channel and brought in 850+ registrations within 2 weeks before launching the program. Kapil has also worked as a Production Manager at Trident Group, a USD 3 billion Indian business conglomerate and a global leader in Home Textile, Chemicals, Paper, Stationery, and FMCG. Here, he spearheaded end-to-end operations of Trident’s Sulphuric Acid production facility, coordinated with cross-functional teams on timely fugai resolution, and ensured proper asset health. He also developed a model to correlate and predict plant production from operational parameter with 92 percent accuracy, proposed a plan on plant production increment by 10 percent with an ROI of 1 year, and worked and delivered an alternate approach to reducing water wastage, saving investment of 6L and operational cost of 2.6 LPA. Kapil holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from IIT Roorkee and a Senior Secondary School degree in Science from Tilak Public School.
