Kapil Garg is a PhD student at Northwestern University, where he is co-advised by Professors Haoqi Zhang and Darren Gergle. His research focuses on building better human-machine systems for groups of people working towards a collective goal, and sits at the intersection of human-computer interaction, social and crowd computing, and artificial intelligence. Kapil has a strong background in computer science and has worked on implementing extended, scalable versions of research prototypes for future large-scale deployment in Meteor.js and iOS. He continues his research on physical crowdsourcing, with a focus on developing intelligent and responsive coordination algorithms. In addition to his academic pursuits, Kapil has also worked as a Lead Data Scientist and Partner at Data Mining & Supply, LLC, where he assisted in developing the core technology and direction of the business, and conducted data analysis for clients using Python and JavaScript. Kapil holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and is currently pursuing a joint PhD in Technology and Social Behavior at Northwestern University. He attended Northside College Preparatory High School before pursuing his undergraduate degree. Kapil has experience as a Research Scientist, with expertise in JavaScript, iOS, Data Science, and Python.
