Karan Chugh is an accomplished Engineering Manager with extensive experience in Machine Learning and Big Data technologies. Currently, he holds the position of Engineering Manager, Machine Learning at Instagram, where he is responsible for leading a team of engineers in developing and implementing ML solutions to enhance the user experience. Karan is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Master of Science in Computer Science in 2014. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Thapar University in 2010. Karan has a proven track record of success in building scalable and predictive modeling systems from the ground up. During his tenure at Yahoo!, he was part of a highly selective rotational program and worked on two rotations, one with First Round Capital and the other with Quora. At Quora, he collaborated with scientists in Yahoo Labs to build a scalable predictive modeling system to measure advertiser campaign effectiveness. Karan is proficient in Java, Python, Hadoop, Scala, and Spark, and has expertise in Machine Learning, Mobile, and Senior Software Engineering.
