Karan Khanna is a result-oriented polyglot software engineer with over 10 years of experience in the industry. He is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Twitter, where he is responsible for making the platform reliable, available, scalable, and fun. Karan has a keen interest in emerging cloud technologies and distributed systems, and he is always eager to learn and implement new technologies to improve his work. He has a strong background in software engineering and is proficient in Java, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL, NoSQL, and Spring. Prior to his current role at Twitter, Karan worked as a Member of Technical Staff and Senior Software Engineer at eBay. During his tenure at eBay, he led the designing and planning of solutions to develop, test, and migrate heavy SMTP apps to Federated Kubernetes Cluster with custom port. He also led planning and designing MVP and implemented POC on the field. Karan has followed through software development phases in Agile to develop production-ready apps, contributed to Dockerizing JVM-based apps onto multi-DC deployments with metrics/dash-boarding/alerting, and phased cutover with no client changes. Karan has also worked on end-user experience, where he led the designing and development of new anti-fraud policies driven communication platform for buyers-sellers. He has scaled up to millions of API calls and his tech stack involved Java REST services API & Event driven systems, 3rd Party integrations, SQL & NOSQL databases. He has also led operational readiness initiatives to ensure business-critical service scalability & availability. Karan has a Master's degree in Computer Software Engineering from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Information Technology from Punjab Technical University.
