Karan M.V. is a seasoned developer-relations professional with a passion for helping developers globally build awesome software with the resources they need. As the Sr. Manager of International DevRel at GitHub, Karan is currently focused on empowering developers and helping grow the open-source ecosystem in India. He has built and grown large-scale communities across India and online channels, launching many global and regional developer programs that have helped thousands of developers. Karan has a wealth of experience in the tech industry, having worked with companies such as Automation Anywhere and DigitalOcean in the past. At Automation Anywhere, he was one of the early hires on the developer experience team, where he worked on building the foundations of the developer experience programs. Additionally, he led strategic developer partnerships with Microsoft, was the product-marketing lead for an upcoming developer product, and the program manager for a global COVID-19 hackathon. At DigitalOcean, he managed developer relations programs, community engagement/outreach activities, events, email campaigns, video-content production, and brand awareness initiatives in India, driving the expansion of these initiatives to reach global markets. Karan is also a full-stack developer and designer, having delivered tens of projects to various clients around the world. He is associated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2011, where he has helped develop engineering exhibits for the BM Birla Science Center in Hyderabad and is currently one of the members of the India Working Group helping towards the development of a new IEEE standard for IoT systems & devices. Outside of work, Karan enjoys reading books of various genres, studying filmmaking, and honing his acting & stage-anchoring skills. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Information Science & Engineering from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University and has relevant experience of 9.94 years.
