Karan Nahata is an experienced Engineering Manager at Google with a passion for building innovative solutions and solving complex problems. With over 20 years of relevant experience, he has a strong engineering background and exceptional people mentorship skills. His current role at Google involves hiring ace senior and principal engineers for Google Cloud Security, where he is leading the development of unmatched capabilities to investigate and detect threats at Google speed and scale. Prior to joining Google, Karan worked as a Senior Software Development Manager at Amazon, where he was responsible for making payments processing safer, faster, and more reliable. He led multiple engineering and operational excellence teams for $1 trillion payments processing at Amazon, ensuring five-nines of availability for payments, and determining credit risk using ML. He also launched multi-factor authentication for card payments in the EU, working with hundreds of external partners and tens of internal teams. Before Amazon, Karan was Head of Engineering at Devfactory India, where he was responsible for setting up and mentoring a 30-member all-star engineering team. He developed a Facebook-style newsfeed for JIVE, a Facebook for enterprises with clients like Apple and Adidas, and a fraud detection solution using data mining for the second-largest telecom billing solution provider in the world, Redknee. Karan holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Instrumentation and Control from NSIT and has expertise in senior software engineering, software engineering, and ML. He is an engineer at heart and loves to build things and solve problems that have not been solved yet. He has recently started a new journey for building next-generation threat intelligence solutions for the Google Cloud Platform.
