Karan Nehra is a Full Stack Engineer at Affinidi, currently working on the Asli Wallet App and related tech on the Affinidi stack. He has a strong passion for executing ideas and solving problems using the power of code. With a background in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Karan has worked in various industries, including Insurance, Fintech, and E-Commerce. He is also interested in Web3 and writing Smart Contracts. Karan has 3.78 years of relevant experience and has worked with renowned companies such as Tophatter and HDFC. At Tophatter, Karan worked on all facets of the tech stack, including the frontend, backend, mobile apps, cloud cost optimizations, and CI/CD pipeline work. He was also a contributor in the efforts to standardize code and increase engineer productivity across the board. Karan extensively worked on an internal private npm package containing core business logic built with Typescript that was used on the Web and Mobile Apps built with React and React Native, respectively. He also worked on the backend built with Ruby on Rails doing test-driven development using RSpec. Karan's efforts were recognized, and he was awarded Employee of the Quarter and subsequently Employee of the Year for his work. At HDFC, Karan worked as a Senior Software Engineer and led Frontend Engineering at InstaPRL, a product for front-line salesmen to onboard financial consultants and fully digitize the on-boarding process. He also led the Backend Engineering for Rider Journey, a complex service that handled SMS campaigns for HDFC Life customers, allowing them to buy Riders for their policies using a simple 5-step journey. Karan spearheaded efforts for improving code quality and standardizing code reviews across his projects. He also did many small indie projects and contributions to products across the board related to UI work, Cryptographic Utils, and general bug fixes/re-writes. Karan is a tinkerer and autodidact with an unquenchable thirst for constantly learning and experimenting with new things.
