Karan Saxena is an Applied Scientist 2 at Microsoft Turing and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's Language Technologies Institute. With a keen interest in Applied Machine Learning, Karan is particularly drawn to Natural Language Processing using Knowledge Graphs and Side Information. He is fascinated by the power of NLP to capture human language and decipher latent emotions and relationships. Karan's experience includes an internship with the Siri Natural Language Modeling Team at Apple, where he worked on Entity Recognition and Linking. Prior to joining CMU, he spent 19 months as a Research Assistant at the Machine and Language Learning (MALL) Lab at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he was advised by Dr. Partha Talukdar. In addition to his work at Microsoft, Karan has served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Data Science Seminar (11-631) and as a Graduate Research Student under the guidance of Dr. Florian Metze. Karan holds a Master of Science degree in Language Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University. He also has a background in Computer Science and holds a High School diploma from St. Francis College Lucknow. Karan's technical skills include Research Scientist, NLU, NLP, ML, AI, Python, and Data Scientist. With over five years of relevant experience, Karan is a dedicated and passionate professional who is committed to advancing the field of Natural Language Processing.
