Karan Sutradhar is a passionate roboticist with over 5 years of relevant experience in robotics engineering, currently working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland. He is driven to make impactful technology that noticeably improves the quality of life and transitions into a sustainable future. Karan has led robotics research for the Maryland Robotics Center and UMD labs, focusing on accelerating breakthrough robotics technology through customer obsession. He is a patented inventor with filed inventions spanning both robot hardware, software/edge architectures, simulation, and generative design. Karan is experienced in bridging the "enterprise gap" taking innovation from startups, industry, & academia and making it work at scale with enterprise requirements. He possesses a range of software development skills, including Agile Development, Unit Testing, Algorithms Optimization, Multi-threading, Software Validation and Verification, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence Planning, Statistical Algorithms, 3D Computer Vision, Vision Systems - Cognex, VMT. Karan's technical skills include C Programming, C++, Python, Matlab, ROS (Robot Operating System), ROS2, Gazebo, RViz, Ignition SCADA, Pro-E, Delmia 3DX, RobCAD, SolidWorks, 3DExperience CATIA, Simulink. He specializes in CapEx planning, new product launch, strategy development and execution, system integration, and troubleshooting. Karan is also well-versed in project management, CapEx projects, TPM, TQM, manufacturing operations, and process study. He has been trained and implemented audits such as EMS14001: OHSAS45001, DM TPM pillar, TS16949, ISO14001 & ISO9001, IMEA, OHSAS18001, Six-Sigma standards, and safety standards. Karan holds a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Robotics Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. He has contributed to the robotics industry with his expertise in Integration, Computer Vision, Research Scientist, Deep Learning, Python, Software Engineer, and Senior Software Engineer.
