Karan Tongay is a versatile Data Engineer, Privacy Engineer, Software Engineer, and Researcher with a passion for Cloud Development and Internet of Things (IoT). He possesses extensive experience in using Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform to develop projects in this domain. Karan is a winner of the International Tech Jam conducted by Microsoft at Mumbai, where he secured first place in developing a differentiated solution demonstrating the innovative use of technology under the domain of IoT. His project was based on automating and connecting systems using low-cost and open-source technologies. Karan has two research publications published in International IEEE Conferences, which demonstrate his ability to conduct research in his field. In addition to his Cloud Computing and IoT skills, he is proficient in Computer Programming and Logical Reasoning, which he developed during his engineering education. He also has valuable experience in Web Development and Security, having developed an ERP system for SVCP, Sinhgad Institutes, which is successfully implemented and used by the staff. Currently, Karan is working as a Data Warehouse Engineer at beatport, where he is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, data modeling, data analysis, and information visualization using Tableau. Previously, he worked as an Intermediate Data Engineer and Data Engineer at ICBC, where he led a team of data engineers and mentored team members. He worked on Hadoop, YARN, Apache Spark, Scala, MapR DB, Parquet FS, Talend, NoSQL, and RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, MySQL, PostgresSQL, MS SQL Server) and conducted unit testing and integration testing of data pipelines. Karan holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, a Data Scientist Nanodegree from Udacity, a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Sinhgad College of Engineering, and a Diploma in Computer Science from Sinhagad Institute. He also completed his education from St. Joseph's High School.
