Karthik Deivasigamani is an experienced Chief Architect with a passion for building large-scale, near-real-time data processing systems. He has played key thought leadership roles in conception, roadmap, architecture, design, and implementation at both large enterprises and start-ups. Currently, he is overseeing the architecture for a 300+ member team at Merchant Tech @WalmartLabs. Karthik is a problem solver with a strong emphasis on keeping it simple. He is a tech speaker and has given talks on various tech events. He has spoken on topics like Storm in Retail Context: Catalog data processing using Kafka, Storm & Microservices, Tale of two stream processing frameworks, and Stream Processing at Walmart. He is also a Senior Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Research Scientist, and has experience in Kafka, dotNET, Microservices, Search, NLP, ML, MySQL, Azure, Web, Apache storm, Apache Hive, Java, Cassandra, and Elastic Search. Karthik has worked with Walmart as a Distinguished Engineer and Principal Software Engineer. At Walmart, he was the lead architect for the Marketplace teams and conceptualized & implemented the product knowledge graph to improve product discovery. He pitched to leadership on the need to build a knowledge base to help solve semantic search and led a team of 20 (engg+data scientist) across IDC and Sunnyvale. He also led a team of 30 engineers to completely re-architect the market intelligence system. He has multiple patents pending on the work. Karthik holds a PGDBA degree in Operations from Symbiosis, Pune. With 18.21 years of relevant experience, Karthik is a problem solver who is passionate about building large-scale, near-real-time data processing systems.
