Karthik Viswanathan is an ambitious and driven individual with a passion for computer science and computational natural sciences. He is currently a Visiting Research Student at the Institut de Recherche en Immunologie et en Cancérologie (IRIC), where he is working on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) research under the guidance of Prof. Brian Wilhelm. Karthik's work involves using drug screening data to identify new potential targets of compounds, analyzing existing data to predict new molecules with anti-leukemia activity, performing high-throughput virtual screening (HTVS) on large databases to rank potential drug targets, and exploring deep learning techniques to speed up HTVS. Prior to his current role, Karthik served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at IIIT Hyderabad, where he taught courses such as Data and Applications, Probability and Random Processes, and Science - II. He also worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at CCNSB, IIIT Hyderabad, where he pursued Honors and MS by Research under CRSI bronze medalist Dr. Deva Priyakumar on the computer-aided drug discovery domain. Karthik's academic background includes a B.Tech in Computer Science and M.S by Research in Computational Natural Sciences from the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad. He also completed a summer exchange program in research at the Université de Montréal. Karthik obtained his High School Diploma from Asian International Private School in 2019. Karthik's technical skills include research scientist, deep learning, Spring, and AI. He has relevant experience of 0.77 years and is eager to continue exploring the intersection of computer science and natural sciences to make a meaningful impact on society.
