Karthikeya B R is a highly experienced engineer with over 16 years of technical leadership and project management experience in the electric power industry. He holds an M.Sc. and a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and has extensive knowledge of solar photovoltaic plants, wind turbines, and renewable hybrid power plants. Karthikeya's focus for the last 3-4 years has been on battery energy storage systems, mainly lithium-ion battery technologies from products to projects. He has worked on power plant engineering, low- and medium-voltage power distribution and control design, and synchronous machine design. He is also familiar with substation engineering. Karthikeya has worked and lived in India, Germany, Singapore, and Denmark, and has traveled extensively. He has worked in a diverse spectrum of organizations, including small enterprises and MNCs, academia, and industry. He considers himself entrepreneurial, relentless, risk-taking, and detail-oriented, in addition to being dependable and honest. Currently, Karthikeya is a Senior Specialist at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, where he is responsible for the battery energy storage system (BESS) product roadmap, product design, and product positioning in the market. He also has overall functional responsibility for BESS and EMS and handles customer requests and analyzes market requirements for BESS applications and services. In his past roles at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Karthikeya was the Lead Specialist for the energy storage program and partnership with Northvolt. He also served as the Energy Storage Systems Architect and managed a capital investment of over €6 million during 2018-2019. He has conceptualized and led various work packages on battery energy storage systems (BESS) sizing, O&M, business case evaluation, digital twin, and battery cell testing. He has also led initiatives on electrical modeling and EPC and grid connection of BESS. Karthikeya's expertise includes conceptual engineering, FEED, detailed engineering, project management, interface management, techno-commercial evaluation, technical due-diligence, system integration, and mentoring. He is proficient in product design, integration, and test and has relevant experience of 15.95 years.
