Kate Wardin is an Engineering Manager at Netflix, where she leads the Studio UI Developer Experience team. With over 6 years of relevant experience, Kate is a seasoned professional in the field of software engineering. Her current mission at Netflix is to create scalable workflows for engineers to develop, deliver, and operate their applications efficiently and with confidence. She also heads the development and support of an internal design system named Hawkins. Prior to joining Netflix, Kate worked at Target as a Senior Engineering Manager for Stores Mobile UI and Supply Chain UI. At Target, she led multiple engineering teams to build web and mobile capabilities for stores and supply chain teams. She partnered with UX designers and product partners to create an intuitive user experience that seamlessly navigated any operational function of Target's business. She also delivered and supported a library of shared design and technical components that replaced 40+ independent applications with one cohesive event-driven experience. Kate holds a Master of Science degree in Software Management from the University of St. Thomas School of Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science: Information Systems from the University of St. Thomas. She also completed a Nanodegree in Introductory Programming from Udacity. Kate is skilled in various tech stacks, including senior software engineering, UI, mobile, frontend, web, ReactJS, and Typescript. Kate is passionate about creating a culture of learning, innovation, trust, inclusivity, and collaboration in the workplace. She champions cross-functional initiatives such as internal meetups, learning sessions, and tech demos. Kate also built curriculum and led workshops for new technical leaders, inspiring high school girls to pursue STEM careers, and empowering others. Kate's leadership skills and technical expertise make her an exceptional Engineering Manager.
