Katherine McClintic is a passionate Software Engineer at Groupon with a mission to include underrepresented groups in all fields of technology and widen access to information. Her strengths lie in the backend areas of full stack web development, including Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, HTML5, CSS3, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQLite, and MySQL. Prior to her current role at Groupon, Katherine was a Director of the DC Network at Women Who Code, where she coordinated with leads for every group in developing curriculum and event planning for weekly meetups. She also served as a Rails Education Lead, helping the DC chapter coordinate and update their Rails learning with an eye toward including more Ruby. Katherine's current project at Women Who Code is to bridge the gap between beginners who can follow tutorials and intermediate programmers who can create their own apps without following someone else's instructions. Katherine's educational background includes a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education and Teaching from The George Washington University, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in European Studies/Civilization from the University of Vermont, and a Computer Software Engineering degree from Dev Bootcamp.
