Kaushik Mitra is a Research Data Scientist at Facebook, with a passion for lifelong learning. He has a strong interest in Statistics and Machine Learning (ML) applied to distributed systems, as well as the Mathematical foundations of ML, Physics, Philosophy, and Music. With 12.87 years of relevant experience, Kaushik has worked with several leading companies in the tech industry. He is currently working with meta, where he holds the position of Research Data Scientist and is responsible for Infrastructure Strategy. Prior to this, he worked with Microsoft as a Senior Data Scientist - Azure Storage, where he was involved in Demand Forecasting and Capacity Planning, as well as Infrastructure Performance. He also worked with Intel as a Software Engineer, where he developed applications to enable high volume testing to monitor process and design defects and yield of Intel microprocessors. Kaushik has an impressive educational background, with a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Maryland and an Integrated MSc in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
