Kaushik Ravichandran is a committed and self-motivated individual with a keen eye for detail. He is currently pursuing his MSCS at GaTech and has a passion for bridging the gap between the growing rate of data and its processing speed. His interests lie in Distributed Query Processing, Large Graph Analytics, and related areas. Kaushik has gained research experience from Microsoft Research, Carnegie Mellon University, and PES University. He currently works as a Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he is one of the incubators of the Cloud Query Optimizer team for SCOPE Engine in Bangalore, India. His day-to-day work involves identifying potential and designing novel optimizations to advance Microsoft's SCOPE Query Engine used for exabyte-scale analytics. In the past, Kaushik has worked as a Research Intern at Microsoft and as a Teaching Assistant at PES University. At Microsoft, he worked in the INSTanalytics team on optimizing SCOPE query plans, where he made smarter use of SSDs to perform more intelligent query optimizations, improved certain cases of Spools to achieve faster compute time, and improved query execution time on 8 TPC-DS queries. His work impacted around 14% of customer workloads and was productized in the SCOPE query engine. Kaushik's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from PES University. He also has experience in XI to XII from CMR National Public School and I to X from The Frank Anthony Public School. Kaushik's technical skills include Software Engineering, Research Science, Azure, and Test. He has 3.20 years of relevant experience and frequently participates as a livesite on-call engineer, conducts interviews for engineering roles for the Azure Data group at Microsoft, and contributes to technical presentations and discussions.
