Kaushik Sahoo is an experienced engineering manager with over 7 years of relevant experience. He is passionate about using technology to make the world a better place and has expertise in developing performant teams, code, and exciting technologies. Kaushik is skilled in developing microservices using Go, gRPC, Docker, and Kubernetes. He is also proficient in creating iOS and Android mobile applications using React Native, Swift, and Java. Kaushik is a versatile professional who is equally comfortable working on a Linux machine or MacBook. He is an avid reader of the latest Golang Weekly or React Native newsletter and loves to hack and geek out. In his free time, Kaushik enjoys traveling with his drone, hanging out with friends, and working out. He is also a coffee lover and can be won over with a strong cup of coffee. Currently, Kaushik is working as a Research Intern at La Spada Lab, Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. Here, he is involved in research on neurodegenerative diseases of lower motor neurons, specifically spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy (SBMA). He has experience handling and performing experiments on various cell cultures of neural cells and androgen receptor cells. Additionally, he has performed dissections of mouse brain, spinal cord, and lower muscular structures. In the past, Kaushik has worked as a Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer at Gnarbox. Here, he designed internal and external APIs for real-time data propagation of up to 1 terabyte for GNARBOX mobile applications. He also created a real-time storage detection system to immediately detect external storage devices upon insertion and support multiple filesystems. Additionally, he developed a Dropbox cloud-sync feature to allow for the GNARBOX to auto-backup files to the cloud when an internet connection is present. Kaushik also spearheaded the development of several GNARBOX mobile applications, microservices, and hardware integrations. He designed, implemented, and containerized the microservice architecture for GNARBOX utilizing Docker and Go. He developed a seamless OTA update service, enabling rapid updates for the GNARBOX microservices, MCU firmware, and operating system. He also architected and implemented network connection management software for both wired and wireless GNARBOX network connections, displaying real-time connectivity status. Kaushik holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Neuroscience from Duke University, where he also minored in Chemistry and Biology. He is proficient in a range of technologies
