Kaustubh Karkare is a Software Engineer with almost a decade of experience in the tech industry. He is currently employed at Facebook, where he has been working for several years. Kaustubh has a passion for understanding how things work, which has driven him to excel in his field. At Facebook, Kaustubh has worked on several teams, including the People Insights and Engineering team, where he helped build internal tools for recruiters and HR. He was instrumental in streamlining existing processes and significantly reducing the amount of time employees had to spend on overhead. He also worked on the initial versions of the internal performance review tool, and subsequently the TL for another tool used for internal transfers and headcount management. This work primarily involved front-end development, using Hacklang, React.js, MySQL, and other technologies. Kaustubh then moved to the ServiceFoundry team, where he was the TL for Conveyor, the continuous deployment system used by thousands of micro-services within Facebook. He rebuilt the system from scratch, making it modular and easy to plug into, and improved integration with other related commonly used developer tools. This work primarily involved back-end development, using Python, Thrift, and dealing with distributed systems. Currently, Kaustubh is working with the Zeus team, which manages the Zookeeper ensembles that contain data powering the control plane for Facebook's core systems. Although he is still ramping up in this role, he is using C++ to tackle this new challenge. In addition to his work at Facebook, Kaustubh has also been involved in other activities. He has conducted over 500 interviews (coding, system design, and career), trained other interviewers, and mentored newer teammates, bootcampers, and interns. He has also taught classes. Kaustubh earned his BE in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, in 2013. He also completed his AISSCE (12th board) from Kendriya Vidyalaya in 2009. Kaustubh's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Backend, CI/CD, testing, Javascript, MySQL, Microservices, Integration, Frontend, Python, and ReactJS.
