Keerthan Bhat is a Senior Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute with a passion for solving complex problems and building innovative products. He specializes in the domains of Computer Vision and Machine Learning and is keen on creating generalizable systems that can understand the visual world as humans do. Apart from his technical expertise, Keerthan has also developed a keen interest in Product Management, Design Thinking, and User Research through his various engagements in hackathons and technical student clubs during his undergraduate studies. He is also an active member of Toastmasters, where he is honing his public speaking and leadership skills. Currently, Keerthan is part of the AI Video Understanding team at Samsung's Advanced Research Group. His work involves fine-grained visual classification, self-supervised learning, action recognition, and large-scale image and video dataset curation pipelines. Keerthan has also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer Intern at Curl, where he worked on text data from commodity trading companies for various NLP tasks and conducted R&D in entity recognition, contextual classification, and class imbalance. He also built pipelines for data preparation and augmentation to be used for the entity recognition models. As a Research Intern at Samsung, Keerthan worked on AI Vision Solutions, Vision Research, and Visual Intelligence R&D. He built and experimented with various architectures of deep learning models for the enhancement of Time-of-Flight (ToF) depth images using RGB modality. He also performed extensive literature studies, surveyed ToF dataset generation tools, and worked on synthetic data generation to tackle the lack of accurate labeled real ToF data. His results were comparable to that of the state-of-the-art methods. Keerthan holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science and Engineering from RV College of Engineering. His technical skills include AI, ML, Research Scientist, Supervised Learning, Computer Vision, Mobile, Product Manager, Software Engineer, NLP, and Deep Learning. With 2.78 years of relevant experience, Keerthan is a highly skilled and motivated engineer with a passion for creating innovative solutions.
