Keith Yu is a highly skilled Software Engineer with a specialization in Advanced Machine Learning and Neural Networks. With close to 4 years of relevant experience, Keith has honed his skills in fitting Machine Learning algorithms onto Embedded Systems to improve computing efficiency. Currently working as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services, Keith has previously worked with the University of California San Diego as a Lead Teaching Assistant and Researcher. As a Lead Teaching Assistant, he designed and taught supplemental weekly lectures and designed projects and fully automated grading scripts for SystemVerilog using shell script. As a Researcher, Keith focused on acceleration for Machine Learning Algorithms and Artificial Neural Networks, where he developed a hardware implementation of Convolutional Neural Network on FPGA and used Python with PyTorch to create, train, and test artificial neural networks. Keith has a Master of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California. Keith's notable achievements include devising a Shallow Convolutional Neural Network to do fast object tracking for image sequences, building Numpy APIs to reduce the rank for weight matrices using Tensor Decomposition methods, and decomposing the neural network into several smaller networks to accelerate on multiple GPUs. Keith has also automated hyper-parameter selection for FPGA using shell script and Tool Command Language and facilitated fully customized Neural Network based on platform constraint and application.
