Kenny Shi is an experienced payment, fraud, risk, and software engineering leader with over 26 years of relevant experience. As a senior engineering leader, he is known for his innovation, execution, and inspiration in the field. Currently, he is the Founder and Consultant at Risk Zero Technologies, where he provides strategic and technical consulting on payments, fraud, and risk management to clients in e-commerce, marketplace, and on-demand economy services. In his previous role as Vice President of Engineering at RiverPay Inc., Kenny led the technology partnership with Bank of China, First Data, Ingenico, Micros, and NCR. He architected an omnichannel payment gateway for unifying online and in-store payments, integrated various POS terminals, and implemented secure architecture and deployment in AWS using EC2, RDS, VPC, Lambda, ECS, Fargate, KMS, Secrets Manager, SQS, ELK stack, and Cloudwatch. Kenny is an expert in card payments, QR payments, and PCI-DSS. He also applied machine learning in various automation of merchant onboarding, KYC, and call center using Tesseract, Mechanical Turk, Kafka, Spark Streaming, and Tensorflow. Under his leadership, the engineering team grew to 5x and maintained top agility and productivity. Before Risk Zero Technologies, Kenny was the VP of Engineering at Citcon, where he implemented payment processing of Chinese mobile wallets from scratch using PHP and MySQL. He also implemented secure architecture, policies, and processes to meet PCI-DSS. He was responsible for technical pitch and sales to prospects, including tourist attractions, supermarkets, and luxury retail groups. Kenny holds a B.S. in EECS from the University of California, Berkeley.
