Kevin Kim is a seasoned ML engineer with over 14 years of relevant experience. He specializes in recommendation systems and outlier detection with machine learning models. Kevin has a deep understanding of ML solutions and a broad range of industry/domain knowledge, including retail (consumer goods, e-commerce), mobile banking, fintech (payment), and D&A consulting. Kevin's technical expertise includes distributed systems for data engineering and model development using Spark (scala, pyspark) and ML lifecycle management (Airflow, MLflow). He has experience in PoC, model serving via micro-service, times series analysis with 1D CNN, and Deep model for NLP product. He is skilled in applying analytics ideas to business processes and has excellent communication skills to explain underlying models to business users. He is also a technical subject matter expert who can lead ML solution architects and has various experiences in coaching and mentoring roles. Currently, Kevin works as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Askuity, where he is responsible for designing and implementing full cycle Airflow integration with Spark cluster and Google Big Query. He delivers data products to generate abnormal trend detection, and performs distributed machine learning model training and inference at scale on Google Cloud. Prior to Askuity, Kevin worked at Paytm as a Machine Learning Engineer, where he focused on machine learning at scale on AWS. He also worked at KPMG Canada as a Manager and Sr. Data Scientist, where he developed scalable ML applications in the financial domain using Spark and stochastic optimization/online learning in bandit problems. He was also interested in NLP applications with deep learning (CNN topic classification). Kevin holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University.
