Kevin Luu is a Senior Technical Recruiter with a background in top technology firms, enabling him to connect talent and opportunity at scale. His mission is to identify top talent by leveraging the power of the web as a gigantic ATS. Kevin finds the most exciting component of his role to be telling the story of growth and opportunity, which can change someone's life. He is passionate about helping people achieve valuable experiences and seeing others achieve their goals. Kevin is currently working at Point, an organization that prioritizes hiring for top start-ups that may not have an internal recruitment function or needs increased functionality within it. His company assumes the responsibility of building a world-class infrastructure of tools and processes for hiring the best while measuring against industry standards around candidate and market expectations. He is connecting with early-stage companies to understand their hiring needs as an overall approach to recruitment, employer branding, and diversity approach. Kevin works across design and engineering roles, partnering with hiring managers to produce top of funnel and building high signal processes for executing their hiring goals, maintaining updates, decreasing their time to fill, strategy/coaching training, structured hiring process, and finally the close. In his past roles, Kevin worked in a stealth mode organization that prioritized hiring for top start-ups. He also worked at Slack, where he engaged top candidates in the tech industry and helped build the Slack Engineering Organization. His roles focused on Backend/Front End Engineering, Security Engineering, and Engineering Leadership. Kevin had a lot of autonomy and opportunities to scope work to get closer to wins, even when things were expected to just be done. Kevin's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Analytic Philosophy from the University of California, Davis, and a Highschool Diploma from Independence High School. His tech stack includes infra, web, frontend, and backend, and he has 11.62 years of relevant experience. In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing pick-up basketball, performance surfing, solo jazz composition (guitar), deep-sea fishing (pelagic species), swimming, and skateboarding.
