Kossiwa Amevor is a recent graduate in Biomedical Engineering with a Bachelor's degree from The City University of New York. She is currently working as a Group Project-Team Leader at Soterix Medical, where she designed an app-based neuromodulation prototype device to treat Alzheimer's patients that can be used for research purposes. Kossiwa was responsible for implementing the light sensor that allows the device to turn on/off according to ambient light. The project won first place among Biomedical Engineering projects on the Annual GSOE Industry Day. Kossiwa has diverse experience in healthcare, management, and customer service. She has worked as a Child Study Center-Student Intern (Rotational) at NYU Langone Medical Center, where she observed and assisted Dr. Gallagher during clinical examination and treatment sessions for 4 hours per week. She also participated in clinical case conferences resulting in modifying new methods for assessment and treatment of childhood mental health and learning problems. Kossiwa has also worked as a Research Assistant at NYU Langone Medical Center, where she assisted Dr. Richard Gallagher in the Organizational Skills Training (OST) for elementary school-aged children research. She analyzed and consolidated data on SPSS to determine which characteristics in children are predictive of a full response in treatment and presented findings at the NYU College of Arts and Science 45th Annual Undergraduate Research Conference. Kossiwa is passionate about continuing her education in the form of a master's degree in 2024. She is seeking opportunities within biotechnology and medical devices with an interest in design, testing, and regulatory.
