Kunal Jain is a highly motivated and skilled Rust Developer currently working at bitcoin dev kit. With a strong passion for software development and computer science research, Kunal is actively seeking a Summer'20 internship in these areas. In his current role, Kunal is responsible for adding a new blockchain backend for the BDK library to sync custom wallets with pruned nodes in the Bitcoin network. He is also optimizing the time taken to sync with new transactions on the blockchain and using RPCs to interact and query with the network. Prior to this, Kunal gained valuable experience as a System Engineering Intern at Lava (blockchain start-up), where he implemented a fully non-custodial wallet that allows Bitcoin backed loans for traditional currency using Discrete Log Contracts. He also implemented oracle interaction in the core library and wrote unit tests for the code base, as well as stress testing the system with fuzzing. Kunal also has experience as a Software Developer at Dreamvu, where he implemented GPU-based accelerations for computer vision algorithms using OpenCV to improve efficiency by up to 300%. He also used image processing tools such as GStreamer to increase throughput of image capture from cameras. Kunal is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) + MS by Research in Computer Science at IIIT Hyderabad, which he is expected to complete in 2024. He also holds a High School degree in Science from Delhi Public School Rohini. Kunal's technical skills include Bitcoin, Blockchain, Software Engineering, Research Science, Backend, Computer Vision, OpenCV, and Image Processing.
