Kunal Shivnekar is a self-driven and passionate software engineer with a penchant for building performant apps. With over 8 years of relevant experience, he has worked on highly functional consumer-facing apps and contributed to the growth and advancement of products from 1k to 1M downloads. Currently working as a Tech Lead at Upgrad, Kunal has led and delivered high-impact features across different verticals while coordinating with Product, Data, Design, and QA teams. He has architected the development of Live Classroom feature on Android app and collaborated with other Leads/Managers to improve and streamline existing SDLC processes. Kunal has also reduced the app size from 80mb to 30mb, which reflects his expertise in optimization. Prior to Upgrad, Kunal worked at Upstox as a Tech Lead, where he led a team of 4 developers and re-designed the app's architecture to improve stability, performance, scalability, and maintainability. He reduced the latency of real-time feed by approximately 1 sec by using Android Architecture Components and enabled faster deployment cycles with automation. Kunal also hired and mentored developers. As a Senior Software Engineer at Upstox, he worked on improving the stability and performance of Upstox Pro Android app and reduced the app start time from 10s to less than 3s. He architected the integration of Stock Charts HTML library in Upstox Pro Android app single-handedly and planned and managed public releases on Play Store. Kunal holds a PG Diploma in Computer Programming and Mobile Application Development from the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication from Sanghvi Institute of Management and Science (Engg). He possesses expertise in Android, Software Engineering, QA, Integration, Mobile, and Research Science. Kunal's problem-solving skills, passion for building performant apps, and ability to lead and mentor teams make him an asset to any organization.
