Kurt Grutzmacher is a highly experienced Chief Scientist at LOCH Technologies, Inc. with over 25 years of experience in the field of ethical hacking, exploit development, source code review, penetration testing, and security assessments. He has a strong background in developing, deploying, and managing large TCP/IP networking infrastructure, including physical cabling, layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing, and inter-office protocol exchange. Kurt is proficient in the use of Cisco equipment to support the multiprotocol FRB infrastructure. Kurt's specialties include web application security, exploit writing, protocol inspection, reverse engineering, routing, and switching. He has a keen interest in the development of technologies that help defend the old and new wireless world (aka the "Internet of Things"). Kurt has worked with several renowned companies in the past, including Cylance, Inc. and Cisco. At Cylance, he performed security assessment work for customers and developed and integrated new services into the Professional Services portfolio related to security testing with a primary focus on offensive security scenarios. At Cisco, Kurt was a Solutions Architect and maintained the Security Posture Assessment, Cisco's consulting team focused on penetration testing customer environments. He also assessed multiple client verticals such as Healthcare, Utility, Retail, Service Provider, Banking, and more. Kurt was a core team member of the Managed Threat Defense service and OpenSOC project, a novel method of using Apache Hadoop technology to gather and analyze large amounts of network traffic, protocol metadata, intrusion detection systems, and other sources of security-related telemetry. Kurt holds a degree from the University of North Texas and is proficient in several technical skills, including research scientist, test, infra, web, senior software engineer, and Hadoop. He is a highly skilled professional with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of cybersecurity.
