Kuy Mainwaring is an accomplished Engineering Manager at Google with over 15 years of experience in software and hardware development, firmware engineering, and user experience design. He is currently working on Smart Buildings and is responsible for managing the software, electrical, and mechanical engineering groups while serving as the systems architect for the product. Prior to joining Google, Kuy was the Vice President of Engineering at Brava Home, an IoT and domestic automation company focusing on the kitchen. There, he managed the software, electrical, and mechanical engineering groups and was responsible for the systems architecture of their product. Kuy has also consulted for various Internet of Things companies, where he applied his expertise in C and C++, embedded systems, ARM, AVR, JavaScript, and Node.js to develop smart home devices, wearables, payment technologies, and more. He is a full-stack engineer who can design a product's circuit boards, write firmware, implement Bluetooth and WiFi connection features, develop smartphone apps and web services, and architect from the transistor to the cloud. In addition to his work in IoT, Kuy has also created video game technologies that deliver value release after release, an installer downloaded and run by over 40 million people each day, and a rapid development platform for ARM chips that was featured on Kickstarter. Kuy holds a degree from the University of Utah and has deep expertise in 2D and 3D graphics, Mac and Linux/Unix system engineering and optimization, multithreading and parallelism, and application architecture.
