Kyle Clegg
iOS and Android Engineer
About
Kyle Clegg is an experienced iOS Engineer with a passion for writing scalable and maintainable iOS apps. He has launched over 10 apps to the App Store, with a focus on medical and healthcare services. Kyle is a consistent Stack Overflow contributor and community advocate, and his experience with the Apple ecosystem has taught him the value of quality design from the ground up and observance to standards. He relies heavily on Apple best practices, programming conventions, and the Human Interface Guidelines to output great products. Kyle got his start in mobile with Android development in 2011, supplementing university courses with long nights and weekends writing his own apps and taking on contract app development. A year later, while finishing his degree and interning at a healthcare SaaS company, he made the jump into iOS development, which became his focus for five years. In recent years, he has had the opportunity to learn React Native. Over the past 10 years, Kyle has focused his attention on building great iOS and Android apps. Currently, Kyle is the Lead Mobile Product Engineer at LifeOmic, a startup in the preventive medicine and health & wellness space. He joined the company at about its 1 year mark to create a mobile presence, build a team, establish product engineering practices, and to bring various product ideas to life through software architecture, design, and implementation. The first app they published was LIFE Fasting Tracker, originally in native iOS, later rebuilt with React Native, enhanced, and re-released for iOS and Android. After the initial success of LIFE Fasting Tracker (3 million+ downloads as of mid 2021), they made a strategic decision to target the general health & wellness space, including corporate wellness, health coaching, and healthy habits tracking. In 2019 they released LIFE Extend, aimed at that purpose. Kyle worked on feature development, user experience design, unit and integration testing, and led efforts to internationalize the apps into six additional languages beyond English. Previously, Kyle worked at Health Catalyst as a Sr. Mobile Application Developer, where he delivered features in native iOS and Android apps for the Care Management product line, optimized engineering team processes, managed the company JIRA instance, and automated mobile deployments. In 2017 he served as scrum master to the team and later as technical product manager - identifying product requirements, writing user stories, and managing the backlog in alignment with strategic vision established by team leadership. He also worked at First Opinion as the Lead iOS Engineer, where he overs
