Lakshmi Gururaja Rao is an experienced software engineer currently working at Splunk. With over 9 years of relevant experience, she has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Lyft and Goldman Sachs. At Lyft, Lakshmi was a part of the streaming platform team, where she built real-time data infrastructure using Apache Flink/Beam. She contributed to the Apache Flink project and was a core contributor/ one of the authors on the Flink Kuberenetes operator project that is now open-sourced. She also led the effort to enable zero-downtime deployments of Flink applications on Kubernetes. At Goldman Sachs, Lakshmi worked on a search and information retrieval platform, where she built a graph DB to enable graph search on the platform. She also designed a logging system using Apache Kafka and Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana. Lakshmi has a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering and Computational Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois, where she also completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science. Her tech stack includes Kubernetes, infra, Kafka, ML, Search, Information Retrieval, Sentiment Analysis, Elastic Search, and ETL. She is a skilled software engineer with a strong background in stream processing and real-time data infrastructure. She has experience owning and building several layers of the platform and its ecosystem, including logging, metrics, and tooling.
