Larry Muhlstein is an experienced machine learning engineer and scientist with a specialization in recommender systems, natural language understanding, and deep learning. Currently working at Google, Larry is involved in responsible AI research. With a relevant experience of 4.78 years, he has worked with Lunchclub as a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, where he was responsible for designing and developing the matching algorithms for the core product. He led machine learning efforts across the organization. At Niantic, Larry worked as a Machine Learning Engineer, where he designed, prototyped, and in the process of productionizing a novel deep learning system for analyzing player location, IMU, and in-game data for various internal products. He also co-architected a distributed decision-making system for expressing a combination of algorithmic and human decisions and applying them to hundreds of millions of users across their products. Larry holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California. He also has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Dean's Approved Major in Embodied Intelligence; Cognitive Science from Case Western Reserve University. Larry further pursued Philosophy and Computer Science from the University of Oxford, where he graduated in 2019. Larry is proficient in ML, Research Scientist, Deep Learning, and AI.
