Lauren Tan is a multidisciplinary software engineer with over a decade of experience in technology, design, and business. She is currently an Engineering Manager at Meta, supporting the React Runtime team. Prior to this, she worked on a new experimental React technology to bring new data fetching capabilities to React apps. She was also an Engineering Manager at Netflix in the UI Engineering organization, where she worked with a high-performance senior engineering team to build out a global content creation studio for Netflix. Lauren's superpower is connecting the dots, and she has a deep understanding that many problems in technology are human problems. She is deeply passionate about growing Women in Tech and is committed to using her platform to sponsor people from underrepresented minorities. Lauren is an active contributor to open source, maintaining a number of popular libraries, and is a regular speaker at leading JavaScript, TypeScript, GraphQL, Ruby, and Elixir conferences. Lauren has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Monash University, and she has also completed a Summer School program in Business Analysis and Valuation from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has a Diploma in International Finance and Investment from the City University of New York-Baruch College - Zicklin School of Business and a Diploma in Digital Media Design from Nanyang Polytechnic.
