Lauren Wise is a skilled Mobile Developer at Shopify with a passion for Kotlin and native Android development. With 4.20 years of relevant experience, Lauren is an expert in her field and has worked on several high-profile projects during her time at Shopify. Currently, Lauren is continuing to work on the Shopify mobile for Android application, where she is responsible for implementing and improving Android-specific features like file sharing, notifications, shared preferences, and internal storage usage. She is also working on Polaris for Android, Shopify's component library and layout framework, and creating Polaris for React Native for brownfield integration with the Shopify Mobile iOS and Android applications. Lauren's past experience includes working as a Mobile Developer Intern at Shopify, where she worked with Kotlin, Java, and GraphQL to fix bugs and lay the foundation for new features. During her time as an intern, she championed the application theming infrastructure project and converted old Java files to Kotlin and old GraphQL models to Syrup-generated models. In addition to her work at Shopify, Lauren has also served as a Teaching Assistant at Carleton University, where she worked with students and professors to explain concepts, lead tutorials, mark assignments, and hold office hours. She taught courses in Operating Systems, detailing the implementation of filesystems, permissions, and kernel modules in C, and Intro to Systems Programming, which introduced concepts like memory management, pointers, TCP/IP, and synchronization. Lauren holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) degree with a minor in Biology from Carleton University, where she studied computer science and gained expertise in mobile development, Android, iOS, integration, Kotlin, and infra.
