Laurence Qi is a highly motivated software engineer based in Sydney with a diverse background in mechanical engineering, marketing, finance, and customer service. He is currently pursuing the General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive program, where he is deepening his understanding of computation and web development. Laurence has a passion for abstract problem-solving and communicating ideas vertically and horizontally to stakeholders. This passion led him to study software engineering in his spare time and eventually to the General Assembly Software Engineering Immersive. He is immensely motivated not only by the beauty of the craft but also by his personal mission to move humanity forward. Currently, Laurence works as a Software Engineer at Qwilr, where he is responsible for writing backend code and contributing to the expansion of the company's infrastructure observability. Previously, he worked as an Instructor Associate at General Assembly Australia, where he helped students develop their programming skills. He also worked on Unleashed, a React.js and Ruby On Rails full-stack application that allows users to set up walks for their dogs, track their location, and arrival times. Laurence holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology Sydney, where he studied mechanical engineering. He also completed a Software Engineering Immersive program at General Assembly. Laurence is proficient in a variety of technologies, including Ruby, Javascript, ReactJS, and backend infrastructure. He is looking to work in a passionate environment with other industrious minds and is open to new opportunities.
