Laurent Martin is a seasoned engineering leader with over 22 years of experience in building strong engineering organizations and launching large-scale products that delight millions of customers. Currently, he is the Senior Software Development Manager at Amazon, leading the AWS DynamoDB Developer Experience organization and hiring managers and engineers at all levels. Laurent has a strong background in software engineering and has worked extensively with Cassandra, AWS, and integration technologies. He has played a pivotal role in the development of Amazon Keyspaces (for Apache Cassandra), a scalable, highly available, and managed Apache Cassandra–compatible database service. With Amazon Keyspaces, customers can run their Cassandra workloads on AWS using the same Cassandra application code and developer tools that they use today. Prior to his current role, Laurent was a founding team member and Senior SDM of the first-ever Amazon Book Store, Amazon Go, and the 3P Retail Integration team. He has also worked as an SDM for Kindle Unlimited, a digital subscription service that allows customers access to over one million books, magazines, and audiobooks. Laurent holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from ecole supérieure d’ingénieurs de luminy and uppsala university, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from aix-marseille university, and a Baccalauréat in Série C (Math/Physics) from lycée aristide briand. Additionally, he completed an MBA in Economics from sbge at Seattle Pacific University. Laurent is an expert in Cassandra, software engineering, AWS, and integration technologies. He is a strong leader who has demonstrated the ability to launch large-scale products and build strong engineering organizations.
